Meet Dave Hogan of Wadman Corporation

Tell us about yourself and your organization.
My name is Dave Hogan. I am the husband to a beautiful wife and father to five children. I am a Vice President of Construction at Wadman Corporation. Wadman Corporation was started in 1951 by Jay Wadman and is currently run by David Wadman. My company employs around 100 individuals. Wadman Corporation is a general contractor with a commercial division, service division, and a residential building division. We are very diversified, and work throughout the 11 western United States.
How did you and your organization get introduced to Rapport Leadership International?
I was introduced to Rapport Leadership International through Slade Opeikens from R&O Construction. R&O is a direct competitor with Wadman Corporation. Nevertheless, Slade and I have known each other for many years. The only way I feel I can repay Slade for sponsoring me is to do the best I can each day and give back to those in my life.
Tell us about your Rapport experience?
I graduated from Leadership Breakthrough One on 1/28/05, Leadership Breakthrough Two on 6/10/05, and Power Communication on 9/18/05 and Eagle Quest on 6/11/06. It has been one and a half years since my incredible journey with Rapport started. I have been to over 25 graduations and have been “On-Team” for all classes, including Teen Leadership Breakthrough. I went to Power Communication with my wife; sent our 17-year-old teen to Teen Leadership Breakthrough and Teen Eagle Quest; and watched hundreds of people come through the training with repeatable, and somewhat predictable, positive outcomes. The people at Rapport (all of them) are incredible and absolutely amazing.
How has the Rapport training impacted you personally?
Rapport has vigorously stimulated me to consider all types of possibilities. It has opened me up and helped me to begin the process of living my core values, keeping my agreements, identifying what I want from my life, becoming consciously aware, watching and supporting others in their endeavors, taking action in my life (Just Focus & Do It), reaching an understanding with myself and others, asking questions, getting over myself, etc.
How has Rapport training impacted your business?
In our 55 year history, 2005 was the best in the following areas: sales, revenue, net income, overhead goal, and best ever on 60 day job closeout. We also did well with our safety program. The attitude of employees has changed and there is incredible team camaraderie.
What was the most surprising benefit you or your organization has received?
Immediate results to our bottom line while focusing on individual people, and the people tackling their individual blocks to leadership.
How do you keep the training alive in your organization?
We have developed a mission statement and everyone has memorized this mission statement. We have a company cheer that we do every morning with enthusiasm and projection in a circle. We share with each other our experiences; we support each other and continue to nurture our company culture. We hold each other accountable with support and concern for one another’s growth. We have also enrolled our superintendents in coaching with Rapport and are very excited in anticipation of the benefits moving forward.
Which class had the greatest impact on you and why?
Tough question; they were all incredible! Leadership Breakthrough One -considering the possibilities for myself, my life constantly flashed before my eyes. I had a bright recollection of my life. My awareness had a quantum leap that I will never forget. I actually did look in the mirror several times during the class and watched my own countenance change. It was painful, yet it was wonderful. I had small breakthroughs and some set backs. Then at the first half of the final exam I blew off all the scar tissue of my life, and took a giant step forward. I found myself. I found that to let go of my emotions was one of the most powerful things I have ever done for myself. I will never forget as I confronted my fears and discovered Dave Hogan! The people at Wadman were ready for this training. Our president, Dave Wadman’s support and commitment to this training are truly a token of his great love for his employees and for his fellow man. Dave Wadman is my power partner and that I will never forget!
When you face a challenge in your organization, what tools from Rapport training do you draw on first?
Remaining “at cause” is a huge tool for me which I gained in Rapport's Power Communication class. It allows me to remain conscious, be at choice, be responsible, act with passion, be creative with solutions that create action, and to promote understanding and an environment of discovery. The discovery brings energy to propel everyone that feels it into self-improvement. So grab a handful and anchor it in baby, it’s contagious and it’s here to stay!
